Ergo++

Stereotactic Precision and Efficiency at Every Planning Stage

Ergo++ provides a comprehensive package for radiation oncology and neurosurgery teams by enabling IMRT planning for static and rotational beams using dose volume constraints. Multimodality image support means Ergo++ can offer registration and fusion for CT, MR or PET, making it a flexible and versatile tool for both disciplines. To optimize planning for neurosurgical cases, Ergo++ offers the ability to plan using MRI images. From initial plan development through dose calculation and plan evaluation, ERGO++ provides a wide range of features that enable you to carefully craft and optimize each plan for a specific patient’s needs.

Overview at a glance

Tailor planning for optimized delivery

CRW frame Choose from a range of planning applications to match the desired delivery technique. You can load and save library plans for protocol-based planning and use them as templates. Plan data are displayed in an easy-to-edit plan spreadsheet. A linear accelerator diagram and collision avoidance tables can be customized per site to optimize target volume coverage while minimizing dose to critical structures. Arc modulation optimization algorithm (AMOA) supports inverse planning. You can specify minimum and maximum doses and associate penalty values for defined targets. You can also specify the maximum dose tolerated to critical structures. ERGO++ uses a fast, simulated annealing algorithm and displays the current objective function and number of iterations, giving you at-a-glance confirmation.

Fast, Highly Accurate Dose Calculation

Dynamic Arcs ERGO++ Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Conventional Planning uses a fast dose calculation based upon a Virtual Source Model of a Multicomponent PencilBeam with inhomogeneity correction performed with equivalent pathlength, based on contours or CT voxel values. For AMOA and VMAT treatment plans, dose is calculated using a three-pencil kernel method, based upon the work of Bortfeld et al. This method results in fast dose calculations using Fast Fourier Transform convolution, and gives you a choice of kernel dimensions for achieving the best balance of speed and accuracy.

Visual and Quantitative Plan Evaluation

Visual and Quantitiative Plan Evaluation Visualize doses easily using ERGO++ tools. SRS plan dose visualization includes:
  • Isodose lines
  • Dose colorwash in 2D and 3D
  • Dose volume in 3D with maximum intensity projection
  • Point dose interactive display with total dose and contribution of each arc beam to any point in the 3D grid
AMOA and VMAT plans also include:
  • Colorwash display of dose in the beam’s eye view
  • 3D iso-surface display with transparency option

VMRS, IMRS and VMAT Planning in one TPS

dynamic arcs Elekta VMRS (Volumetric Modulated Radiosurgery) represents the most advanced treatment capability available for arc-based Intensity Modulated Radiosurgery based on the acquired VMAT experience. With VMRS’s ability to dynamically control multiple treatment parameters, you can tailor ERGO++ treatment plans to “shrink-wrap” the dose around a tumor, use multiple arcs for complex sites, and achieve better treatment for complex Stereotactic Cases, Spinal Applications, Oncological and non-Oncological Treatments (AVMs, Trigeminal Neuralgia, etc…) as well as classical RT extra-cranial RS applications. ERGO++ gives you unmatched control and precision to achieve planning goals.

Seamless Integration Provides Superior Efficiency

A vendor-neutral, open-standards solution, ERGO++ uses DICOM RT for data exchange. This enables you to easily import and export image studies, plans, and data from other systems. Import:
  • Image studies from Elekta MOSAIQ® EMR and MOSAIQ® Oncology PACS
  • Plans from compatible systems, such as PrecisePLAN and XiO, for stereotactic localization
  • Dose from compatible systems, such as Philips Pinnacle3, Nucletron MasterPlan, and others, for independent plan review, comparison, and summation
Export:
  • Patient plans to MOSAIQ integrated EMR for delivery and to MOSAIQ Oncology PACS for archiving
  • Hybrid plan to compatible IMRT quality assurance systems, including IBA Dosimetry OmniPro-I’mRT and ScandiDos Delta4
  • DRRs to iViewGT and contoured CT image studies to Elekta XVI as reference data for image-guided radiation therapy

Pre-planning

You can import DICOM 3 image studies from compatible CT, MR (MRA and MRS), PET, and SPECT devices and automatically register multi-modality data using:
  • Points: stereotactic frame fiducials; anatomical and external markers
  • Frameless: volumetric chamfer matching
  • Mutual information matching
Image segmentation and contouring allows you to define the target(s) and organs at risk on any image study. Stereotactic localization includes options for back projection check to compare with true frame geometry and a calibration QA report that identifies mis-calibrated individual images.
